Strange weekend

Friday around noon I received a text from my friend/business partner Claudia. It said: "Doug (her husband) was electrocuted at work. He is dead on my way to Jordan Valley Hospital." Holy Crap! Sick, sick feeling. A little bit later the phone rings and a hysterical Claudia is saying "Doug's not dead! They identified the wrong body?"

Claudia got a call from Doug's work saying he had been in an industrial accident and she needed to call JVH ED. She called and the nurse told her Doug had been electrocuted, they were doing CPR and it didn't look good and she needed to get to the ER. Claudia having been and ER nurse for years knows that is the ER's way of saying come to the ER so we can tell you he's dead. She demands they tell her if he is dead. A police officer gets on the phone and says he is very sorry but they tried everything and Doug has died. Claudia calls her three sons and tells them the awful news then she calls a neighbor to drive her to the hospital and at some point texts me. As they get closer to the hospital the phone rings and it is DOUG! I haven't had a coherent conversation with Claudia since she told me he was alive so I don't know what led up to the mistaken identity. Apparently a 39 year old who works for Doug's company was electrocuted and died yesterday. They haven't released that person's name. Isn't that just a horrible story? Ultimately, it turned out well for Claudia's family not so great for the yet to be identified family. But what an incredibly awful thing to go through. Her three sons all driving to the hospital thinking their dad is dead. Claudia driving to the hospital to see her dead husband. Just too stressful to imagine. I got sick reading the text. Claudia said the bright side is she has a good story to tell. I told her I could do without that kind of story.

Kind of on a funny coincidence. Claudia always tells the phlebotomy class a story about Doug. Thirty plus years ago before cell phones, answering machines etc Doug got a letter in the mail from the U telling him they had been trying to get in touch with him about his lab results and that he needed to call them immediately as he only had six weeks to live! Well, needless to say they had misidentified the labs. Doug seems to suffer from a case of mistaken identity!

Jenny saga. It's turning into incredible frustration. I have really about had it with being a .... I don't know the word....maybe putz. I asked Jenny if she would consider giving us custody of Sean what with Ryan being in jail until October (now she says September) and she got all kinds of defensive. He lives with us. She seems him twice a week and he sleeps at her house twice a month and the fact that we want custody is shocking. Jenny and the girls came to the lake today and it really is all about what I can do for HER. Not Sean but HER. I just don't think this relationship can go on this way. I don't know what the answer is because it makes me sick to think of losing Sean but the status-quo can't continue. I could scream or cry or scream and cry. Thanks to my husband, Bonnie, Charity and my niece Catherine for listening to me all day.

I think the giving tree has become a stump. Does that mean she will sit on me?

Don and I are spending the night at the lake with Alika, David and a friend of David's named Zac. They are all going to go boating tomorrow. I'm going to sleep and work on ppt slides. Sean's been getting up really early so I don't ever get to sleep in. Jenny took him home with her tonight. She said she was taking him to chucky cheese but I think the translation of that is she was taking him to jail to visit his Daddy because she was calling the jail on her cell phone in the car to find out if the jail was still on lock down. Oh what a life....How did I become involved in this.

How is that for a bunch of (*&^(*^@(*^@*(& _)* drama?

And that's my weekend in a minute. (Actually it took me two hours to write this because I stopped to talk to Bonnie for an hour then Charity called and that took another 30 minutes)

Busy Week

Alika graduated from beauty school today. We are so thrilled and proud of her. She just turned 19 last month so it is really quite the accomplishment. She was very happy, as well she should be. She's going to assist at a salon until she takes her boards and gets her license. Way to go Alika!
Alex had an open house at his work. AJ, Sean and I went to check it out. Old Dominion is growing while other trucking companies are struggling. It was fun to see where he works and what he does.Harrison got baptized today. Congratulation's to Harrison. He turned eight last month but he got to blow out candles again today. It was a fun afternoon. First we went to Alika's graduation then Harrison's confirmation and party afterwards.

Welcome to the family Lisa-Jean! Lisa-Jean Denise Foley was born on 7-9 (Gma Dolder's bday) at 6:29 and she weighed 9 pounds 5 ounces. Big girl. Autumn did really well, she only pushed 25 minutes. Do those Thomas girls know how to have babies or what? Autumn looks like a little girl holding a baby. I just love this picture.
One down (Autumn) two to go. Next to deliver is Jaclyn, then Stephanie. The babies just keep coming in this family.

Now for the Jenny drama. I got call on Thurs at 4:45 a.m. Jenny said she was "sorry to call me so late, but". "Sorry to call me so early you mean" was my response. Kylie summed it all up the next day. To quote a three-year-old. "My daddy was bad and he punch-id a man in the face and he had to go with the cops." That translates to her dad is in jail for aggravated assault. Hm, it is a continuing soap opera. I was thinking tonight if I could go back to November 23, 2007 at 0100 and I walked into the ER and saw Jenny standing there beat up and crying would I still go to her or would I walk away. If I had known what a commitment I was making would I have still gone to that apartment, picked the kids up and brought them home? It doesn't really matter because you can't change the past but it is an interesting thought. I'm guessing the answer is yes because I don't know what I'd do without my Sean.
Sean and Don took a walk today and Sean insisted on Don taking his shoes off so he could wear them. He walked half a block in Don's tennis shoes. Don said it made all the neighbors smile. I'm sure it did. I only hope Don's shoes are always the ones Sean chooses to walk in.
One last Sean story. This morning he woke up and was calling out MAAAAAAAAAAAA. I wanted to sleep so I thought I'll pretend I don't hear him and maybe he will go back to sleep. I hear quiet for about ten minutes and I think, wow it worked. Then I hear this pitter patter of little feet and who walks into our bedroom carrying his blanket, SEAN! He CLIMBED out of his crib. He had the biggest smile on his face and was so proud of himself. I wasn't planning on taking him out of the crib unit he was two but apparently I need to reconsider.

Happy Birthday Stephanie

Today was Stephanie's birthday and she went through the temple for the first time. We had a little family celebration at Robintino's. Steph and Dan and Autumn and Ian are all getting sealed at the North Carolina temple in August. AJ, David and Alika were really great about amusing Sean. AJ, David and Alika sat at the end of the table seperated from the rest of us and pretty much ignored by the waitress. They had a good time anyway.Jaclyn says it's easier being pregnant with one baby then it was with two. Go figure. I guess you need to have twins first to appreciate having a singleton. As I was trying to pacify Sean I thought "oh my gosh, what if he was a twin. Aghhh," I know I couldn't handle that. They put us on the top floor at Robintino's which means Grandma had to walk up all those stairs. She did good getting up, getting down was harder but she made it.

Sean and Nate wanted FOOD and they wanted it now.

Jameson and Jackson were so good I almost didn't know they were there. Catherine said when they pulled up to the restaurant Harrison said, "look Aunt Carol is here. Is she supposed to be here?" I'm not sure what that meant.

Art and Char are leaving for D.C. tomorrow they have a job doing IV pump training there for a couple of weeks. That works out nice because they will be close by when Autumn has her baby. Stephanie really wanted Autumn to have Lisa Jean today but LJ was not up for that.

Tyson looking a little grumpy. He was tired and quiet as opposed to Sean's tired and crazy loud. Sean woke up so happy today, he was just a hoot. Jenny called lasat night and said she wanted to have him so Don took him over at 9 a.m. on his way to Orem. He knocked and knocked but no answer. I met Don on Beck Street so I could pick Sean up and he could get to Orem. (Jenny called later she said she couldn't hear because of the air conditioner) Sean had missed swim class so I took him swimming for half an hour. That made him even happier. He was just busy all day. We didn't get home from dinner until 9:30. I think the only time he ever stayed up that late was when we went to Illinois.

All the boys finished up their session of swimming lessons today. They got certificates. Catherine asked the swim teacher if any babies really flunk the baby and mommy swim class. Art said only the ones who get left at the bottom of the pool. (Art is twisted)

Here's some REALLY exciting news. Alika will finish beauty school next week. This is the paper hanging up by the time clock. There is only one person with more hours completed then her. She is going to start doing twelve hour days on Monday and should be done by Wed or Thurs. Yippee, way to go Alika. She is really excited. 2000 hours is a ton of hours.

Alika had to get four pedicures and manicures done before her hours are complete. I just had a pedicure yesterday but what the heck. I did my part and got another one. And last and probably least. Don ordered a bunch of computers for the classroom. He also ordered a case of mice. Low and behold Napster is not much of a mouser as he just laid in the middle of them. Silly cat!
