It's a small small world

This is a picture of Sean with his brother Ryder's Uncle Matt. What, you ask? Why is Sean with Ryder's uncle? How does Sean even know Ryder's Uncle. That's where the small world comes in. I had a CNA class begin last Monday, the same day Jenny signed Ryder's adoption papers. In class I mentioned I had been to a delivery on Saturday of a baby that was being adopted. One of my students came to me at break and said, he thought it strange because his sister just adopted a baby that was born Saturday. Sure enough, it was Heather's little brother Matt taking my class.

Impromptu Iggy's

Mmm Tyson likes mustard. Now Jameson likes mustard.

Actually, Tyson liked just about everything.
Sean kinda liked corn dog nuggets. Corn dog nuggets? Is that a real food. Yuk! Don ordered them for Sean he says he eats corn dogs with Sean all the time.

Harrison lost a tooth this week. He had a soccer game today. Those Hoskin's boys are losing teeth right and left. Actually just top and bottom.

I went over to Catherine's to pick up some tomato's that she bought on sale. (To add to the tomato's we've grown from seed). Catherine decided we should meet at Iggy's for dinner so we did.

Happy Birthday David

David turned 15 today AND he got his braces off. Double yippee. We went to dinner at Lone Star had ice cream cake from DQ then David went to the skate rink for a 9 p.m. ice practice. One more year until he drives. Unfreakenbelievable!

Sean says "please sir may I have some more?" Actually it was more like screaming "BITE" Which means, feed me now!

Oh HAPPY DAY!!!!

I am not sure which day was happier April 18th at 8:48 p.m. when Ryder Michael Vestal was born or 12:30 p.m. April 20th when he was adopted and became Ryder David Jensen. I was pretty happy both days but my total relief after the adoption papers were signed is indescribable. Congratulations to Jenny and Ryan for making a beautiful baby and congratulations to Heather and David who are the proud parents of a beautiful baby boy. All seven pounds eight ounces and 18 inches of him. I am sad to admit that he only had two thumbs. He got ripped off. I was hoping he would have three like his big sassy brother Sean.
This is Heather's first kiss of her great looking baby. I don't want to sound bias but this really is a remarkably great looking baby. He does do a strange this with his tongue though. I think maybe it's because Sean was tongue tied and couldn't move his that Ryder feels compelled to stick his out all the time. It's just because he can!

Here's my baby Sean biscuit holding his little biscuit brother. Sean was so confused when he saw him. I'm not sure he even knew what he was. When he figured out it was a baby he wanted to touch it's eyes.

Oh yeah! Carol loves delivering babies even if she wasn't really the nurse. I still pretended I was, I gave Ryder his first shot! And yes Stephanie this time I remembered to put the medicine in the syringe and I didn't poke him twice.

Ouchhhhhhhhh! That mean woman poked me with a needle.

Jenny did so great. She pushed that baby from -1 to out in two pushes. She made childbirth look easy.

It's so bright out here! But I think I'm going to like it.
Oops Steph came to the delivery. You know what that means? It means she'll be pregnant within a month.

Heather and I gave Ryder his first bath. He didn't like it too much but we enjoyed it.
Just a side note to this story: I have always wondered WHY Jenny and these kids came into my life and what my role is supposed to be. While the final chapter with Sean isn't written it is with Ryder. That gorgeous little baby will never go to bed hungry. He won't sleep on a crib with no sheets. He won't crawl around on a floor covered with cigarette butts and beer cans. He won't live on other peoples couches and in homeless shelters. He is going to grow up in a loving home with loving parents and I am so grateful to God and the Jensen's that Ryder is in the Jensen home. I've done some pretty cool things in my life but I think saving Ryder is something that I will always consider a miracle and will be so proud of. I am crying as I write this but I am thankful that I went into the ER in the middle of the night at the exact time Jenny walked in after being beaten. I'm grateful that I called Peter and we went and took those kids out of that apartment. So many things lead to this moment. If WFS hadn't sent Jenny to my CNA class I wouldn't have gotten involved. If we hadn't Ryder would be just one more neglected child living in squalor. But he's not he is a cherished baby. There are no words to describe how happy I am. It just defies the odds. Thank you God. If you feel like you haven't seen a miracle for awhile take a look cause it's a miracle!
And of course thank you to my wonderful husband who puts up with me and the babies I bring home. Without him it wouldn't have happened. On November 24,2007 I called him at 3 a.m. and said I'm bringing home some babies and his only question was how many? Not why, not are you crazy, just how many.

Early Easter egg hunt and Carter's Bday

Carter turned 26 yesterday. Unbelievable! We ate dinner after the Easter Egg hunt. We weren't really hungry but we ate anyway. Carter's always up for a steak.
Baby Nate is always up for chocolate cake. I don't know if he actually eats it or just smears it on his face.

Jameson was into dying easter eggs.

Chase was into finding Easter eggs. I think he had his basket full in less than a minute.

Not nice policeman!

On Tuesday I was driving home from the soup kitchen after doing a clinic and I got my very first ticket. In truth I was speeding so it was deserved but it just goes to show you no good deed goes unpunished. Then last night I was driving home from teaching a class at 10:30 at night and I'm on Legacy, cruise control set at 58. Speed limit is 55. A cop pulls out behind me, no biggie I thought. He keeps trailing me. I keep looking in my rear view mirror because he has a red light in his car and I can see it and I don't know what it is. I get about half a mile from Centerville and the police light goes on. He shines his bright spot light on my car and them comes slinking up with his hand on his hip like he wants to shoot me or something. He asks me if I know why he pulled me over and I say I don't have a clue. He then wants to know what I've been drinking and what kind of drugs I take because he said he was videotaping me (hence the red light) and that I was drifting onto the shoulder. I told him I didn't drink or do drugs...except Lipitor. He then wanted to check my eyes to see if I have nystagmus. He ask if I know what they are I'm just looking at him thinking you dumb little crap head. You're 20 year old self is asking ME if I know what a nystagmus is. I wanted to ask him to spell it. I told him to give me an alcohol test but he wouldn't do it. I also told him he could search the stack of bags in my car. I had 15 CPR mannequins in my back seat. He was really bummed when he figured out I wasn't drunk because he had called BACKUP! He gave me a ticket for unsafe lane changing or something idiotic. I gave the ticket to Catherine and she is going to call the WX attorney on Monday. I told the guy the reason my car was drifting was because the wind was blowing. I watched the weather 40 mph wind gust.... Good grief. No tickets for 48 years then 2 in a week.
