Walking in the rain

Don's work had an end of summer picnic this afternoon. It was a pretty cool and rainy day but there was a brief respite at 5. We were eating when the storm started rolling in again and it started to pour.

Kids wanted to keep playing on "the round metal thing" also known as a merry go round. Too much lightening to stay outside.

Bunch of wet kids.

Being silly

Kylie and Brie came for the weekend. They moved to Herriman so they live almost an hour away now. Sean had basketball practice this morning. We had to go get basketball shoes because all he has is his Vans.

Brie's birthday was this week so she wanted to go to Texas Roadhouse. The kids loved our waiter. They said give him extra money. I said, I will give him a good tip. They said, no you have to give him money.

Being so silly is tiring.

Landlording

We've got a condo that has been sitting gutted for 3 years in January. I'm trying my best to get it done before January. This is a total loss of income in addition to the fact we are paying HOA's and taxes. Sean likes to cut up carpet.

Carter is strong and makes short work of carpet.

I had it painted the next day. I went to check on it and the back bedroom looked like this. What the heck. I called the painter and he came back, turned on the heat and redid those two walls. The walls are below ground so it was too cold and after he left the paint slid off the walls. I went back today and it was good.

Salt and the Salt Flats

Don didn't race but we drove out to the flats during Speed week  It was pretty warm and there wasn't rain this year.

When we were driving back we stopped by one of the salt companies.

Sean was trying to decide how many salt shakers you could fill. About ten containers long, 7 containers deep and 3 containers high. Each containers could hold about 2 and a half tons of salt.

Princess Day

There was a Princess Day at Center Point. Steph too the girls. Valley was very busy exploring.

Very, very busy!

Khloe discovered princesses somewhere other than Disney Land and Disney World.

Valley liberated ex caliber from the stone.

A crafty little butterfly.

Khloe's kitchen and garage notes

I picked Khloe up from school Friday. We made cookies. She got a notebook and after each ingredient she would write notes. The first line and a half our cookie writing notes. She was very serious about recording the entire cookie making process. The rest of the notes were written in the garage as she recorded Don working on his car. She would go over and see what he was doing, write a note, go back look for updates and record. She has a lot more to say about the garage activities than the kitchen ones.

Khloe also wanted to go buy more fish I said "when we buy new fish they get eaten." She said "we need to buy REALLY BIG FISH." She has a point.

I'm the popcorn lady

Tonight was Tech Trek. Last year I didn't even go to Tech Trek because I was so burned out from the two years before. This year I went but all I did was the popcorn. Every time someone would ask me a question about where something was or who was in charge I'd say "I'm just the popcorn lady." I really liked that job I think I'll do it again next year.
Ethan's pig face. Good grief, those boys are so silly.

We were getting a caricature drawn. No, we didn't specifically ask for one that looked nothing like us. One of the other mom's from the school was donating her time to Tech Trek. There was no one waiting so we decided to pay $20 bucks for a picture. The lady was really nice and Don asked her if she spoke Spanish. I then asked where her parents were from. To make a really long story short her mom used to babysit Alika and David and they owned the Peruvian restaurant where Don and I had our reception. She was so cute, when I mentioned Alika she said "ALIKA AND DAVID!" Her mom was their favorite babysitter.

My Tuesday Girl

AJ is doing an internship at Smith's on Tuesday so Valley is hanging out with me.

Sean was home from school sick on Tuesday. Valley helped him practice piano.

OK, so he wasn't real sick. On Monday he felt pretty bad and I took him to work with me because I was worried he'd get sicker and I didn't want him to be home alone. He didn't feel good Tuesday morning but by noon he felt fine. Here he's listening to Imagine Dragons and reading Michael Vey which he says is the perfect mix.

I don't know who made this mess.

Surely it wasn't this cute little monkey.

For some reason she carried the scale around and that thing is heavy. She kept standing on it. I told her all he weight is in her diaper.

Taking more selfies of her cheeto face self. I've got about 100 pictures of the top of her head, my ceiling,, my blanket.

Michael Vey Book #7 Launch Party

Sean has been counting down the days until the release of Michael Vey book seven ever since he finished book 6. The pre-release party was packed and standing room only. We got there early so we got a seat! Sean's on chapter 5 and we still don't know if Michael Vey is alive. At the end of book six he was struck my lightening. I'm going with yes, he is alive because Richard Paul Evans already talked about making another book series. I told Sean it could be a prequel but I don't think so.

Hanging out with some Elgen guards.
