Weekend Update

Angela had a party for the kids to celebrate all their hard work for Book Battles. They partied until 1130. Sean was so tired when he got home he didn't get up until after 10 the next morning.

Khloe and Vally came over while their parents went to see Avengers. When they got back Sean and I went to the movies. I can honestly say that is the first time I ever fell asleep in a movie theater.

We walked to Subway for lunch.

Don spent all weekend working on a way to keep the chickens confined to part of the yard.

Here's the competed project. One of the little buggers keeps getting out It's always the same one. Sean and I clipped it's wings yesterday and it was out again today. Don thinks it was crawling under a spot in the fence so he blocked the spot. Now we wait and see if Houdini chicken escapes tomorrow.

Dragon Festival

There was a dragon festival at the fairgrounds. Steph saw it on Facebook so we went to check it out. It was beautiful night and the lights were pretty. They had a hat show which reminded me of the hat show we saw in China where the guy kept dropping his hat and I was worried they were going to beat him. Vally loved watching the show.

This frog was my favorite.

Khloe is 5

Time goes so fast. I can't believe this little girl is 5. She is so grown up. She starts kindergarden in the fall.

Her rainbow cake. She had a birthday party on Friday with a couple of her little friends from school and Vally.

The Agony of Defeat

There were 20 schools competing at Book Battle district.

The kids were all super excited going in but alas none of our teams placed this year.

It was a tough defeat. We lost the first round because of an unfair scoring rule. They said they would change it next year. There was a bad question and the kids challenged the question. They agreed it was a bad question and threw it out but the other team still got 2 points for the author. Not fair...if it's a bad question there should be no points. The second round the just got beat fair and square. Ethan had a total melt down. Sean shed a few tears. This was their second year and they had never lost a match so losing was a new experience.
Sean had a lacrosse game at 12 in the field that connects the elementary school where book battles was being held to the junior high. That was super convenient.

Tyson and Milo came after lacrosse and they played computer games until 8.

Happy Birthday Vally

Vally was sick on her birthday so she stayed with me instead of going to daycare.

She had a fun day and was happy. She had a cough that really hurt and she would wince and cry when she coughed.

Throwing stuff... she likes to come in my room and throw all the CD's off the shelf and liberate the crayons.

She took an afternoon nap and when she woke up she was GRUMPY!

We went to a farm in North Salt Lake called Cross E farm. Sean wanted a picture of him petting a pig to send to Andrew because Andrew LOVES pigs.

A couple of kids with kids.

Grumpy pants liked the chickens.

and the bunnies.

AJ who hates slides standing at the top of a really tall slide with the girls. Vally thought she wanted to do it but after she did it she decided it was not fun. AJ agreed except he knew he wasn't going to have fun before he did it.

We road in a wagon through the cow pastures. Khloe said she wanted a baby cow and she was going to keep it in her bed. After she got a good whiff of cow manure she nixed that idea. No baby cow for her.

This calf looks dead but it was just sleeping.

Vally was much happier when we got home to cake and presents.
