Modern Family (or something)

Jennie asked if she could have Jack's sixth birthday at our house. Um, OK. Sean was not happy with the extra family she invited so I had to call her and tell her to uninvite and leave the extras to only Sabrina and Empress. I was worried it would be super awkward but it went well. The kids had fun.

There was significant sister drama before the girls arrived. One sister made some really bad decisions this week that resulted in significant criminal charges. Hopefully therapy will help with decision making and the courts will order community service and therapy even if it's inpatient as opposed to being punitive.
Jack enjoyed being the birthday boy.

Brie stayed over for two nights and Don took them snow boarding. We took her skiing a couple years ago and she didn't like it. She wake boards and snow boarding comes easier for her.

Brie did biff it getting off the lift a couple times and landed on her head. Sean had a piano recital and trampoline park birthday party after Brie left yesterday. He and Don were going to ski again today but he was too sore.

Coming up on one year!

March will be one year of online classes and it has been great!!! I hope they let us keep classes online permanently. The state had just started a pilot program before COVID to evaluate online class success and now they have an entire year worth of data. Our students have done as well or better than in class. I know we will have to return to clinical at some point but it has been nice not to deal with the constant drama and stress of clinical as well as the expense.
Vally was very talkative online one day last week.

Skiing and boarding

Don and our mustached man-child went skiing and boarding today.

Steph sent me this picture. Khloe saw this on the ground and got scared because she thought it was corona virus.

Limited choice of activities

Sean has to exercise for his online PE class and it was raining/snowing so we went to Boondocks for bowling and laser tag. I called Catherine to see if Tyson could come. Catherine came as well and Harrison and Kyle even showed up for awhile.

It was nice to get out of the house and do something.

They went outside and played miniature golf in the rain.

Feeding the ducks

Because I have both my vaccines I was able to see W after a year of online meetings.

We met at the mall because he was getting glasses and then we went to the park to feed the ducks.

He is such a funny kid. We had a great time. We were feeding the ducks his left over pretzel from the mall and he asked "is this a health snack for ducks?" I said probably not. He said "that's OK, my mom feeds the chickens chicken and tells them they are eating their family."

Sadie

Carter called me at 7 am Monday and he said "I think Sadie is dying." I told him I would be right over. While I was driving over he called in to work for the first time in the 15 years. When I got to his house Sadie was on the floor barely breathing. I had Carter get a towel, wrapped her up and handed her to Carter. The vet is in the same parking lot and his condo. It was cold so I drove across the parking lot. We ran in with Sadie and I said " the cat is dying." They said what's wrong with it. Hmm, it's dying. The vet wasn't there so the tech took her back to get vital signs while we filled out the information. They said they would assess her and call the vet in if it was an emergency. We went to walk back to the car and the tech came out and told us that she was dead. Poor Carter, he just cried. It was so sad. He loved that cat more than he has ever loved anything.

Carter had told me a couple years ago that when Sadie died he wanted her cremated so that decision was made. Sometime next week he should get his little kitty urn. The day after she died Carter called me just to talk. In 37 years Carter has never called me just to talk. I asked if he was feeling her jump on the bed when she wasn't there and he said yes. He said he sees her, hears her and even smells her poop. Sadie was 18 years old so he's had her almost half his life.

Sadie dying made me think of Lani because she was Lani's cat. When Lani was dying she made me promise to take care of her cats. Carter kept that promise with Sadie. Five years ago someone in class told me their sister had adopted the other cat and she was still fine.

Fun day at work

We had a lab day yesterday. Margaret, Ginger and Linda were there. I bought Pizza from the Pie for lunch and then Claudia showed up. It was so much fun that it made me miss teaching in the classroom.

Trailer Park Travisty

Here I am standing in the trailer park. The police have been their evciting squatters. It looks like a tornado has hit the park. It is a disaster zone. For the first night in over 50 years no one slept in the trailer park.

Some guy in Vernal got the contract to remove any trailers that weren't sold. He tookout about 10 this week. The ones he are taking are pretty crappy but that have an empty trailer park and plan to repair and flip them.

One of the drivers had the entire roof of a trailer blow off while they were going around Strawberry Reservoir.

Only one person remained in the trailer park last week. Alexandria Tingey Jensen, The meth addict heroin addict who self mutilates and prostitutes herself. She is a broken soul and we've all been trying to help her find a way to move on. She's been living in a wooden shed added to a nasty camper. The wooden shed has no heat, there is no water in the trailer. She lives in plywood entry way on a mattress with no sheets or blanket. You can hear her cats chasing the rats. You can also pick up heroin needles. The Kimball's drove her to the Motel 6 last week and she walked home the same night. I told her it's getting cold and she really needed to go. We caught two of her cats and Kathy and I drove her over to the motel. I left her a bag off food that would get her though half her day. She was so freaked out about leaving a cat that she said she was coming back the next day. Johnathon took over food yesterday but no one can find her. I don't know if she's left and if she did did she take the cats .Did she run off with the guy she met while we were checking her in. I stalked her Facebook today and previously should would post 20 times a day but nothing since I left her at the motel. I don't know if she has run off, fallen in love with the man she met in the lobby or if she has overdosed in her room. I did some Facebook surfing and found she's telling the truth about her father raping her for years. Her mother had custody of her kids while her father was in prison for raping her but now he's out and he lives in the same house as her children. So screwed up. I'm appalled that we had neighbors right behind us living in third world conditions.
