Battle of the Books

Sean was part of Battle of the Books this year. His team name "4 Kinds of Sheep." Hmm, wonder who came up with that name.

The kids were so excited on tournament day. It was chaos in the library with 120 very wired kids.

Ethan, Sean, Sam and Andrew. Andrew was team captain.
Sean has done great reading the assigned books. He's given up recess to study with his team. The twins mom Angela has given up her time to coach the team. I was supposed to help but I've been working or watching sick grand kids most days. I did make a Quizlet that the kids have used to study.

Battling against "4 Deadly Dragons" for the championship. Sean's team went into the final with no losses. The Dragons had one loss and that was against the "Sheep."

And the champions are....4 kinds of sheep. I was amused that the sheep slayed the dragons. Sean said the sheep used their magical powers to put the dragons to sleep. They one by one question. All the matches were close.

Sean is just thrilled that they won. On April 22 they compete at the district level. I told him that will be 19 teams which means 18 teams will lose. He's working on reading the books that he hadn't read. They had different members of the team assigned as experts for different books. Before district he will have read all 14 books.

All the 3rd grade teams.
They played double brackets.

Comic Con

Sean wanted to go to Comic Con to meet Richard Paul Evans the author of the Michael Vey series. We found him right after we walked in and there was no line! He got an autographed poster and a picture. He was so excited he was shaking. Pretty awesome for a 9 year old to be that in awe of an author.

I ran into two of my former students. Ally the mermaid I recognized and was talking to when the pirate came up and said "Carol?" I said yes and he said "I took your CNA class." Pretty funny.

Ghostbusters

Getting our Star Wars on.
Sean told me the night before he wanted a hair cut. After comic con we stopped at Great Clips. I wasn't going to let that opportunity pass.

Slime

Sean's been wanting to make slime. I don't really get it but OK. It's a teaspoon of borax, a 4 ounce bottle of glue and 1 1/2 cup of water.

Sugar Eggs

She looks like she's frowning but it's really pizza sauce on her mouth. I order monthly craft kits called Doodle Crate. Khloe loves them. She always wants to do "the box." This box was about birds. She made a little bird out of clay and a bird costume. Everyone thought she was a chicken. She ran around dancing in her bird costume.

A picture of sugar eggs showed up on my Facebook page. I had forgotten all about these eggs. When I was growing up we used to sell these at the mall at Easter as a fund raiser for church. Mom used to make these things by the hundreds. I was getting pretty frustrated. I was trying to make 3 and after numerous failed attempts we ended up with two which was OK because Valley really didn't need one. I think I have it figured out and know how to make it work the next time we make them

Sean was being super silly and I had a hard time getting a picture of him with his egg.

St Patrick's Day

I had to work St Patrick's day. I didn't get home until 6:30 so I had to cook a quick meal. Beef Stroganoff turns a really nice shade of green. Khloe wasn't too sure about it.

Sean figured out it taste exactly the same.

Watching a movie.

Sean and his sheep

Sean loves sheep. He wants a minature sheep or a Nintendo Switch. Hmm, I'm going with the Nintendo. There are a bunch of sheep at the farm next to the school. The kids aren't allowed to go to the fence. Sean has been sick the past two days because why shouldn't he have a turn being sick! I took him to school for a meeting during lunch. He's studying for his Battle of the Books competition. There were a bunch of new lambs so we walked over to the fence to see them. All the sheep came running over baaing.

Sean wanted me to take a video so I did. As soon as I started recording one of the sheep started peeing. Speaking of peeing. Sean is dry most nights now. We got an alarm that clips to his underwear and beeps as soon as he starts to pee. We decided that when it goes off he would get up, go to the bathroom and then put a pull up on. He's been skipping the pull up part and has done great. On a more comic note: I had Valley asleep on Sean's bed when I heard the alarm going off. I was confused trying to figure out what the heck was making the noise. I ran in Sean's room and Valley is sitting up in the middle of the bed with the alarm in her mouth. Gross but funny. I told Jaclyn and she said Aurora was sucking on dried cat vomit. Ugh.
Sean's tissues from last night. I sent this picture to Alika. She used to do the same thing and it drove me crazy. It still drives me crazy

Poor Valley got sick again

Khloe and I did a farm craft last weekend. She loves her crafts.

Valley came home from daycare sick again on Monday. AJ and Steph still had oxygen at their house. So she had oxygen at home at night and then AJ brought her over Tuesday and Wednesday so I could watch her and keep her on oxygen. She was in a pretty good mood for feeling so bad.

She is so busy. She's in to everything. She crawls fast so she moves from one room to another at baby fast speed and that's on oxygen.

I love that little face.

Wednesday afternoon I took her off oxygen and she kept her levels up during her nap. She gets sick fast but gets well fast.

Valley waiting for her turn on the Wii U

Cute girls

I think these pictures of Khloe are from February when she was sick. She kept telling me she didn't have to sleep.

She loves to play in my bathtub.

Now look Valley is big enough to play in the tub too. How can that be?

Being exceptionally mellow.

AJ wanted a picture of Valley so I took one with Khloe's cell phone in her hair. I know it's really a curler but Khloe talks in it.
