Audits

Every two years UNAR audits our records. The audit consist of them giving us 3 names and us producing the records for those three students. This means we have to go through 2000 records to make sure none are missing. Every time I spend 40 plus hours the month before the audit thinking we have to do better at keeping up and then I find myself in the same situation the next time.

Yes Bird I want to stick my tongue out at those files as well. This little girl is one funny little Bird.

Teenagers

So, there was the time Sean got in trouble for stopping at Arctic Circle with his friends as they were walking to a field trip. The teacher said "his real mistake was being last in line and getting caught."

Then there was the call from the vice principal about the "incident" where some kid had a break down in the bathroom and was screaming fuck you at his mother on the phone and everyone else in the bathroom and then full on attacked Sean, kicking him. Sean picked him up and dropped him on the floor. He was a 7th grader. At this point the kids is wailing so Sean tell his friends to get the principal. Sean bends down next to the kids and ask him if he needs help. The kid responds by punching Sean in the face. Sean then says "fuck you" and goes to the office. The Vice Principal said "Sean's not in trouble." No kidding, but is this little deranged kid a threat to Sean? I know Sean can take him physically but does he have access to guns? The principal of course hasn't responded to my request for that information. Sean said within 10 minutes of "the incident" the entire school knew and 7th graders were backing up against the wall when he walked by. He said he doesn't want to be known as the kid who beat up an autistic kid. I actually know who the kid is. He was a short very overweight kid on the wrestling team who was so out of shape he would be bent over gasping when they had to run up and down the court. He always got pinned in less than a minute and his mom dressed like a 16 year old and was always screaming at him. I only saw him a couple of times but I felt bad for him. BUT, I still want the school to do a safety assessment on him and make sure he's not a threat to Sean or any kids at the school but apparently that's not going to happen.

Then this email from his physics teacher:

Are you freaking kidding me?

The teacher actually sent me links to who Brandon the Barber is. Apparently he's a barber that cuts hair in the nude. Seriously, the teachers have time to be calling me about this crap! Last week Catherine got a call because Tyson was throwing orange peels at the rafters in the cafeteria. Can't they just tell the kids to knock that shit off. Gun violence is the leading cause of death in children in the country and I'm getting calls about Brandon the barber and Arctic Circle when they should be doing something to make sure some bat shit crazy kid named Brady doesn't come after my kid with a weapon. Sean was really upset about that event and felt like he didn't handle it well because he put the kid on the floor. I thought he handled it well when he didn't punch him back!

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know of an incident that occurred during a lesson today in Physics.  We started a new unit focusing on  Speed and Kinetic Energy. I was using platform called Nearpod where I can create an interactive lesson.  On a collaborative board a question asked of the students, "What's your favorite ride at an amusement part?"  I always get a handful that try to be funny and most of the time it's harmless fun and lightens the mood of what could become a challenging lesson.  Sean's choice of amusement park ride is "Brandon the Barber" (see attachments".  You can look up Brandon the Barber and see what this social media persona is like and why this is probably not the appropriate forum for that.  Will you help me encourage him to at least use appropriate humor while also contribute positively in class collaborations?

Thank You for your time and I welcome any suggestions you might have and any questions you might have about Sean.

Connor's birthday and Carter's new job

Connor loves all things cars!! I showed him his cake he took off the cars and off he went.

Visiting Marjorie

Holly and I took a trip to NC to visit Marjorie. We stayed at Autumns' but Autumn and her family were in Florida. I did get to see Steph and her SO, Marian, Cary, Kestrel and my BFF growing up Suzanne. I realized after I got in the car and was leaving the mall that I didn't take a picture with Suzanne.

We ate BBQ a couple of times and drove to NC beach and stayed in a sketchy hotel that allowed pets. I'm thinking about selling the Florida beach house and buying one in NC closer to family. As Marjorie's Alzheimer's gets worse I'm going to be visiting NC more often and it would be nice to have a beach getaway. Marjie's always loved the beach so it would be fun the take her there for get aways. She's not driving so she doesn't get out much so she really enjoyed our road trip.

When Jori and I were walking on the beach I left my shoes on the boardwalk and told her how I always have the urge to swipe flip flops left on the boardwalk on St George Island she laughed and said she did too. On the way home we stopped at a BBQ restaurant and when she came out to the car she was laughing. She had stolen the handicapped sign off the bathroom stall:) Seriously made me laugh.
Holly liked the forest in Autumn's backyard.
