Hanging with the Kansas cousins in Illinois

We paddled around the lake at Don's dad's house in Fisher. We looked for a turtle but didn't find one.

We are staying at the same hotel as Dava and her kids so Sean had fun playing with Donavon and Calvon.

This made me laugh, I had never seen such a thing. It was located right next to the car wash at the gas station near the hotel.

Wandering through the soy bean fields.

We had a very windy picnic in the park.

Illinois play day

We got to Illinois the day before the wedding so we had a day to play. We drove to Fisher and showed Sean the house Don grew up in and the school he attended.

We were going to go to the zoo in Bloomington but Sean didn't want to. We went to the Hardy Reindeer ranch in Rantoul. Fun and different.

Sean was a little intimidated by all the antlers at first. These are some tame reindeer. The antlers grow that big in three months and then they shed them.

Sean decided to start small. he liked the antlers that were still fuzzy.

Getting a kiss from a reindeer. I'd never done that before.

Sean lifting an antler. They were quite heavy.

Looking over the 12 acre corn maze.

pedal cart races. I look at pictures of myself and am not pleased with how fat I am. Hm, perhaps at some point I will be not pleased enough to lose weight.

Took this picture at the Bloomington airport. Wish I had started taking it when Sean was just a baby. I have one from last September.

Steph texted me this adorable picture of Khloe today.

What's going on (not a whole lot)

Sean came in the house after school crying. We carpool with a neighbor in his class, Jacob. Sean was so distraught. I asked him what was wrong. He said "I wanted to go play with Jacob but his mom said no, she said they were going to the pharmacy and I really wanted to go." I said "the pharmacy isn't any fun." He said "it isn't?" I said, "no, it's like when we go to Target and wait in line for medicine." He said "Oh, I thought since it had the word Farm in it and there were going to be animals and it was going to be fun." So cute.

The other night I was reading a book and San asked me what it was about. I said it was about a little boy who was adopted from Russia . He asked if he had a "mirth mother." I said "birth mother". He said "NO Jenny is my Mirth mother." Yes son, she's definitely your mirth mother.

In computer class at school.

Sean's name in Chinese. I am in awe of how much he is learning. Very amazing and he loves it. He loves telling people he speaks Chinese. He can count, knows his colors, simple commands and can write his name and numbers. He can sing songs and recite nursery rhymes in Chinese. We were at the doctors office waiting for his flu shot. Sean started yelling in Chinese. Really LOUD. I asked him what he was saying and he said "I don't know." The next day when I was volunteering in his class, the teacher was yelling really LOUD, the same thing Sean had been yelling. It was a song, I think. Chinese is a loud language. His teacher has a lot of energy. She is very cute, and very young. She was having a fit this week because the temperature got down to 50 and the kids didn't have coats. She wouldn't let them go out for recess. I guess she doesn't realize the kids in Utah wear shorts in the snow.

Sean's into Mario again this week.

Fall is in the air

We went up to Snow Basin for a hike. Had to stop for gas en route and Sean decided to ride the dinosaur.

It was a beautiful day for a walk in the mountains.

This picture doesn't show how far up the rock hill we climbed. Sean was pretending their were dinosaurs in the mountains. "They escaped extinction" was his explanation.

Riding down on the gondola. The leaves hadn't changed.
