January

A group of veterans donated $1500 in scholarship money to sponsor CNA students. Funny bunch of guys!

Sean has been sick for two weeks. On Saturday his ear started hurting. In addition to his cold he has an ear infection. A couple of hours after starting antibiotics for his ear he came down with pink eye. Good grief. He's on day 3 of antibiotics and doing much better.

Sean wanted to learn to make crumpets. I had no idea what a crumpet is. They are English muffins. Home made crumpets are so good!!

While we were in Florida all the fish (except two bottom feeders) died in a heater malfunction. Don has been working on turning the aquarium into a paludariam.

Staying busy during a pandemic

Sean's basketball season started. They won the first game, the second was forfeited because the other team had COVID. He had a double hitter last week which was tough because Sean didn't feel good. The next day the coach sent out a text that he and his son both tested positive.

If basketball doesn't expose him to enough Covid he sits on a bus with 72 other kids for 3 hours when he goes to ski school.

Khloe has finally tested negative and is free!

Mission accomplished

Carter really liked walking Pinto around the pond.

Another box craft.

Vally told me in all seriousness that she is Spider Girl. She had a little bottle of glitter spray and she sprayed it on the mattress, turned into Spider Girl and immediately scurried to the top. Maybe she really is Spider Girl. I deflated the mattress and put it away lest Spider Girl and Wonder Woman fall and break an arm.

Playing games and climbing the mattress

Meet Pip, the Pup. He's the cutest little Yorki you will ever see.

The girls played a game called, climb up the mattress. Khloe could climb like the wind.

This mattress has taken a lot of abuse.

The girls made little dolls from a "box". Khloe made hers into Rapunzel.

The lighthouse

What a seriously creepy clown Santa has in his sleigh.

My 3rd time climbing the lighthouse and I'm now OK with it. The first two times it really bothered me climbing up through the whole to the top. I've overcome whatever my issue was.

They both have their eyes closed. The sun must have been in them!

The beach

We only spent two nights on the island. Don spent most of it fixing stuff. I got the air boat captain's son to haul off the old mattress and junk to the dump.

Visiting Tallahassee

Carter was the only one of the kids who hadn't visited Florida with us. We were going to take him last year but then I got sick and Covid was such a mess. Well, Covid is still a mess but the world is pretending that it's not. I was worried about how Carter would handle a 9 day trip but he did great. He always had his own space and as long as we kept him fed he was happy. I made a urology appointment for him for when I get back. He pee's every 15 minutes. I remember when his frequency started it was when he was about 19 but I had no idea how all consuming it had become.

Connor is about ready to crawl. He is such a calm, happy baby.

Vally has some crazy reasoning skills!

Doing great online

Sean is still doing great with online school. Chinese has been a disaster online but I'm not sure it would have been any better in person. The Chinese teacher is just such a traditional Chinese teacher, she yells at the kids, and calls them stupid. Sean has hated his classes with her and after some drama before Christmas I actually took him out of the class. He still has his tutor and can still prepare for the AP test but he will do it with his tutor and not the school.

Covid is insane now, Utah had over 8500 cases yesterday. The previous high was under 5000. Sean says he wants to go back to school next year. I think I will have him take just A or B day classes. I think if he had to go everyday he would be unhappy. If he decides he loves it then at the term he can go back full time.

I walked and I walked and I walked

I have walked over 400 days without missing a daily goal of walking 10,000 steps which is about 5 miles. That's a lot of steps!!!
