Fun in the snow

Kylie and Brie came over after Christmas. We picked Jack up from the YWCA where Jennie is living. He spent one night. The kids were good babysitters. They did a great job. They did set a mirror against the bed so Jack could watch himself flex and he jumped off the bed into the mirror. Amazingly the only injury was a scratch on his foot. Great babysitting lesson. 3 year old's don't think they just do. Especially Jack. 

We went tubing by the school. Someone made a snowman so we had a ready made picture scene.

I'm not sure why they taped the pulse oximeter to Jack's finger. They were wired and it took a long time for everyone to get to sleep. Jack woke up crying at 4 am. I asked him if he wanted to go home he said "NO." He wanted to "move." He and Brie moved to another bed in another room and he went back to sleep. 

Master Bath

We ordered the new bathroom cabinets in September and they were finished December 21st. The windowsill was in really bad shape. It was uneven. I had the overgrown plant covering it up. After the new windowsill was put in and I didn't need to cover it the plant got a trim. 

Goodbye pink. I think that really is the last of the pink in the house. We've been here 19 years that's a long time with pink counter tops.

The new cabinets were delivered a month before the install. We had an out of the way place to put them so they weren't in the way.

Tear out and cabinet install was the same day but there was a three week time between cabinets and counter tops. They had to come out and map out a 3D so the counter tops could be made.

Install day. We brushed our teeth in the bathtub for three weeks.

Gingerbread houses and Christmas

We had a big crowd for gingerbread houses this year. Lot's of kids. 

AJ and Steph missed the gingerbread house making. Steph was at instacare. Khloe had strep this week and Steph had the flu. They are both still coughing and were leaving for Florida in the morning. We decided to open presents on the 23rd before they left. Sean wanted to open his presents early so we just did the entire Christmas two days early. David had to work and Alika was busy getting engaged but Carter made it. David came over the next day. It was kind of liberating being done with Christmas while others were still shopping. I'm thinking of celebrating winter solstice celebration in advance/instead of Christmas. We went over to Catherine's for a nice dinner Christmas eve and back for lunch today. It was a really low key day, I made a dinner. It was just me, Don, Sean, Carter and Tyson. 

If you want to make a two year old happy give her a cardboard box.

Happy Birthday to me

I had a fun day. Steph and AJ gave me a massage for my birthday. My appointment was at 10 so I went after I took Sean to school. Art and Char were in town. Everyone came over for dinner from Famous Dave's and ice cream cake. The next day Char and I went for pedicures.

Little girls and AJ's birthday

Khloe kept coming upstairs and getting money out of the basket. I asked her what she was doing and she said "hiding it like Easter." She had money everywhere, in the fridge on the stove. A little while later Carter came over and he said "what's all this money doing laying around." He then proceeded to gleefully hunt it down He did a pretty good job but I did find a quarter next to a box of cereal in the cuboard today.

 

The girls decorated a cookie cake and Christmas tree ornaments for their dad.

We went to PF Chang's for his dinner.

Magicians and snow

The canvas pictures for Alex and David's weddings arrived and made it to the wall. Brie made me laugh. I had a canvas of the Catalina trip printed and on the wall. Brie looked at it and said "I always wanted to be on the wall." Gee, if I'd known that Brie I would have put you on the wall years ago.

We went an saw a magician, Mike Super at Hill Field. He was really good the kids were talking in the car and they decided they didn't think he could really time travel.
