Playing with the girls

The girls came for an over night play date. We went swimming last night at the condo. They are all decent swimmers.

In the morning we went to Cherry Hill. I didn't realize they could have gone on the new water slide, oh well. They got bored after an hour and a half. They came home and played Lego's. As hot as it is Lego's inside is a better choice.

Boating

It has been so hot, over 100. We went to the lake on Saturday. It was nice in the morning. The weather was perfect, the lake was smooth and it wasn't real crowded. Khloe had her first boat ride. She was hesitant at first but decided she liked it.

Donuts and sand, yum!

Sean likes this picture he thinks it looks like they are in the middle of the ocean. He told me to put it on the Internet so everyone could see it.

Sean drove the boat the whole day. He is a good driver. He's been driving 3 years now so he has years of experience! He is cautious about watching for swimmers and other boats.

We took the boat over to a swimming area. The water was perfect and clearer than I've ever seen it.

On the way back Khloe fell asleep in the boat.

We went to eat at The Oaks after boating. Khloe wanted to sit on Sean's lap.

Art and Char were in town so they came to the lake.

At the pool

This was the first time Khloe played at the pool at Cedar Springs. It made me nostalgic. I remember swimming there when I was pregnant with AJ and when Carter, Alex and AJ were just little. I blinked and now I'm swimming there with my granddaughter. Mom used to get in that pool and now she can barely get out of her bed. Time goes so fast.

Sean is so athletic. He does 50 sit ups and 50 push ups before he goes to bed. He's also practicing his hand stands. He is really liking gymnastics. The first day he wanted nothing to do with it because he was the only boy. I told him he was going to sit there for an hour and watch if he didn't want to participate and then Josh a boy from his class showed up. They weren't in the same group but I guess it made it all OK. Now he wants me to sign him up for the next session. He also reads food labels. He only wants to drink skim milk. He tried skim milk on his cereal but decided that was disgusting. "Why does the cereal box say to use skim milk?"

He also started taking piano again. His teacher is a 14 year old that lives on Chase Lane.

Boondocks

Khloe's first time bowling. It is no big surprise that she loved bowling. You have to use balls to bowl and Khloe loves everything that involve playing with balls. So many balls, so many colors. Oh the choices!

Oh ball, come back to me!

The kids played in the big toy or whatever it's called. It's a big maze of bouncing and climbing. Khloe followed Sean through the entire thing and let him hold her and as they went down a big slide.

Khloe wasn't tall enough for the bumper boats but they told Steph as long as she held on to her she could take her. Good advice otherwise I'm sure all the mom's throw their babies overboard.

Court is in order

Sean and Khloe were playing court. They had a light set up and little hammers. They banged the hammers and yelled a lot. The poor little bear in the chair was the subject of their wrath. When I took the picture Sean told me not to put it where people can see it. I told him my blog is private so he said it was OK to post it.
Sean has grown up so much this summer and it's only June. He quit wetting his pants during the day after our camping trip. I'm not sure if it's because Kylie and Brie teased him or if he just started being aware of when he needs to go. In the past he was always wet by the end of the day but not anymore. He tried to quite wearing pull ups at night but he still gets wet at night. I try to wake him up and have him pee in the middle of the night but he sleeps so soundly it is really hard to wake him up. He also decided he can go to bed without someone laying down with him. That makes me a little sad. He still likes me to lay down with him so he's letting me down slowly.

Sean's relationship with Khloe is pretty cute. He told me since Jacob has been out of town "it's the season of Khloe." He is going to Chinese camp, kids camp and gymnastics this summer. At kids camp they had to tell something special about themselves and he said that he was an uncle.

Trip home

Don booked a hotel for our last night on the road. I loved hot water, clean sheets, ice, heat. (Well we didn't need heat in Reno we actually used air conditioning) At one point Don asked if I thought we should buy a camper. I'm thinking, no. It was fun and I'd do it again but probably not enough to purchase one.
Ice beautiful ice.
We stopped at the Salt Flats on the way home. Round trip 1914 miles. That's a lot of miles! We went from seeing our breath at Patrick's Point to 102 degrees 4 hours drive later in Fresno.

Sean was sad when he went to bed that night. "I miss my sisters." It was a fun adventure with sisters. The kids were all really good and great travelers.

Tide Pools at Agate Beach

Panoramic of Agate Beach at Patrick's Point.

Trying to get a picture at sunset.

I'd never been to a tide pool. We went down at low tide which was 10 a.m. It looks like the seagulls got there before us and ate up all the good stuff. Sometimes you find starfish and jelly fish. All we found was crabs picked apart by the seagulls. There were things growing on the rocks but nothing too interesting.

It's called agate beach because there are little pieces of agate that you can hunt for. We didn't find any.

The ladder you went down to get to the beach.

Sean's crab puzzle.. They had cups full of clam shells and crab parts.

Stream to the ocean.

There was a little stream that ran down the cliff and into the ocean. Sean and Brie worked for a long time building a dam.

There was pretty high rock cliff that Sean climbed up. This picture doesn't do justice for how high it was.

The fog rolling in.
