Patsy's Mine

I wanted to take Milla to Timpanogas cave Labor Day weekend but I waited too long to get tickets. I was looking online for hikes in Davis County and found a place called Patsy's Mine above Farmington. The blog I read said it was an easy hike and doable with small children. Ha, the blog lied. It was not an easy hike and Khloe did not find it doable at all. Even with Don carrying her she was saying "are we almost there." (She learned that phrase from Sean on the hike.) After we made our way to the mine which scared her she said "I want to go home, I'm sleepy." She was good natured about it even though she didn't like it. She liked the chocolate chip cookies Catherine brought, that was definitely her highlight.

Inside the mine. Kyle, Harrison and Catherine all hit their heads on the low ceilings.

Looks like we made it! Poor Patsy hiked up to that mine every day around 1902. He was an Irish immigrant named Patsy Morley. He built the mine with steam powered tools thinking he was going to find silver. All he found was rock and mud. Eventually he disappeared and no one know what happened to him.
We had Ming Ting with us. She is the other student intern.

We had to drive about 2 miles up the canyon to start the hike. It's no wonder I'd never heard of it. It's not exactly easily accessible.

Khloe wasn't joking about being sleepy. She fell asleep before we even turned the car around. She slept til we got to lunch and then she was full of energy again.
Later in the evening Catherine and I were talking about it and Catherine said "It wasn't too hard." Kyle had said earlier their is a hikers amnesia. Once you are done you forget how hard it really was. It's true in hindsight that was really a fun hike. While we were doing it we were all thinking "are we almost there?"
