Sister weekend

I called Lanette on Thursday to see if the girls could spend the weekend. I didn't tell Sean. I picked them up on my way home from work Friday night. Sean was lying on the floor in our bedroom playing with his tablet. When the girls walked in he looked up confused and then smiled and said "you tricked me." Then he got wild and ran around like a crazy child. They were so excited.

A couple of nights before the girls spent the night Sean asked me again why I didn't adopt his sisters. I toldr him we just couldn't do it. He said "yes you could. Our house is big enough. We have enough money." I told him we just didn't feel like we could take care of  3 kids. He can't grasp that. He said "you took my sisters from me." I told him I didn't take them, they are still his sisters. I understand his feeling of loss and I try really hard to make sure he has time with his sisters to keep their relationship strong.

We went to a play at Legacy theater on Saturday. It was the Emperor's new clothes. Well, sort of the story line wasn't even close. Sean was bored but the girls liked it. It was a children's production.
I had promised the girls the last time they were over that I would teach them to sew. Each of the kids made a blanket. Sean has really gotten into sewing and is sewing little pillows for all his stuffed toys. They did really well especially  with they tying. Kylie was really scared of the sewing machine.

They camped out in the hallway. It was practice for our big camping trip.

On Monday we went to the pool. I was taking this picture and some life guard told me taking pictures was against the rules. That's news to me I've been taking pictures at the pool for 30 years. I'm not sure how they could enforce that in today's digital world.

Don took the kids hiking up by the B on Saturday.

He took them hiking in Farmington on Monday.

A day in the life of Khloe

Khloe came to play while her parents were at work. I took my car into get the oil changed and we had to walk back to pick it up. This is the toy she wanted to bring. Nice and easy to carry.

This girl loves frosting. She will eat the frosting off the top of a cake, eat frosting from a spoon and eat frosting from the middle of the Oreo. She hands me her cookies when she's done and acts like they are broken. Cracks me up. We had a fun morning. She was really tired and was an hour late going down for a nap.

She had a great nap but woke up GRUMPY. Woe is her, nobody knows the trouble she's seen. Grandma gave her single stuffed Oreo's and not double stuffed.

I gave her the selfie stick and she started to cheer up.

There's a smile.

As soon as Sean got home she was happy! She loves her Sean. I told Sean to play stuffed toys with her. He said "she doesn't play, she just runs around us." I told him that's how a 2 year old plays. She was having a grand time just running around yelling and periodically throwing stuffed toys down the stairs.

Spring soccer

Spring soccer has begun and is almost over. There was a lot of rain so one game was cancelled. We made it up last night. Sean started out kind of slow but has really picked up and is playing very well. For once his uniform wasn't orange but he still got number 11. I'm not sure if he just picks that one out or if they hand it to him.
Sean had a really excellent coach this session.

Timpanogas Cave and Mother's Day

Sean made me some jewelry for mother's day.

Still more selfie stick.

We went to Timpanogas cave. I had never been. It's a 3 mile hike. The only problem is the 1.5 miles up are straight up. I know it's on a paved walk way but I am a wimp and it near about did me in. I swear old ladies with walkers and toddlers were passing me. Ultimately I made it. They plan for 90 minutes to give people time to get up the mountain for their cave tour. I made it in 75. Phoebe and Sean ran ahead and waited for us.

The cave was beautiful with all the stalactite's and stalagmites.  The story goes that a man discovered the cave looking for lumbar in the winter, in the snow. Hm, he didn't have a paved walkway so how he found his wave up that mountain to the caves is beyond me. I'd of made a really crappy pioneer. They would have left me in the snow.

The trip down was much easier than the trip up. (thank goodness!)

Sick and a selfie stick

Khloe Selfies

It's been a strange month. The first week of May we were still recuperating from our big South American Adventure. The first weekend of May Sean got sick. he was coughing a lot and had a fever. He missed a couple of days of school and was miserable. I got an abscess in my bartholin's gland and had to have surgery in the doctor's office to insert a drain. All this happened in the middle of Sean being sick. On Monday (the 4th) after the surgery I was feeling pretty crappy. I took a Lortab and went to bed in Sean's room so I could help him with his inhaler during the night. I was up every hour giving him Albuterol and nothing seemed to help. I called the doctor's office in the morning and the doctor on call said I had to go to PCMC if he was using that much albuterol. I tried to explain that he wasn't sick enough to go to PCMC but they said they wouldn't see him. I said "fine, I'll take care of him myself." I was ready to cry. A few minutes later Don comes out of the room and shows me the cap was on the inhaler inside the spacer. That means he got no albuterol all night. That could be why he wasn't getting better. It was kind of funny in a pitiful sort of way. I don't know why I didn't wake Don up in the night and have him take care of Sean. I guess my being sick and the medications impaired my ability to make rational decisions.
Amazon is always making recommendations for thing I should buy. I bought Sean a Pete the Cat book and AJ an PCAT book and now I am getting combined recommendations.

Sean's opposite work.

We got a selfie stick so we were practicing.
