Milla's back

Milla's back. Her return happened so quickly that I'm still kind of in shock. The week before Mao Yu left they hadn't hired replacement teachers. I told Milla and she applied. I think it was the day Mao Yu left that Milla interviewed via skype with the Stewart. I told her if she got the job to just send me an email with her flight information. Less than two weeks ago she sent an email with her flight info and last Tuesday we picked her up at the airport. First thing Wednesday we went to the pharmacy to get her first COVID vaccine.

Sean is taking two summer classes, just to get ahead. One is PE. The first summer term of PE was easy because we were at the beach most of it and Sean did a lot of physical activity. With the temperature about 100 it is hard to do anything outdoors. I'm on day 250 of not missing a day of walking at least 5 miles but I do my walking before 8 a.m. Sunday we all got up at 6:30 and walked up Parrish Canyon to the pictographs.

It was a nice hike but I had terrible shoes on to be climbing up a cliff. Nate kept asking "how many people have died on this trail?" I kept saying "none that I've heard of." Seriously, I was trying to keep from falling off a cliff. I know there's been a lot of rescues up there. Finally I told Nate we might be the first. I was glad we made it up and down without incident. Milla and I both slid down the two really steep parts on our butts! We were filthy.

By 8:30 we were home having breakfast.

Grand Junction

I had been wanting to go to Grand Junction to see Alex and Misty for awhile. Sean had been saying he wanted to go camping. He was going to go on a backpacking overnight trip with the church but it was a 40 mile hike up to Kings Point and we thought that was not the best first hike for him. I decided we would go camping in Grand Junction and combine the two activities. Well it was 106 degree's. Sean said "I never said I wanted to go camping." Seriously boy, are you kidding me.  We got the campground and it was so hot and windy, tents were blowing around. We cancelled our reservation and went to a hotel.

Actually, it was more a motel then a hotel. I said, we are supposed to be camping we aren't staying anywhere nice! It had air conditioning, water, a toilet and a shower. It was pretty nice when I thought we could be in a blowing tent in the heat.

It had a bunch of picnic tables around the motel so we made S'mores and burned some Jiffy Pop Popcorn. We took Alex and Misty to dinner and then they came back to the motel.

It didn't go exactly as I planned but we had a fun little trip and a good visit.

Wipe Out

Yesterday I saw a Groupon for a place called Flow Rider in Ogden.

Nate has been here for a couple of weeks.

Wipe out!

Sean's taking a summer PE and Math class so we are trying to find things to keep him active for PE. He's trying to get ahead for next year. He might be able to start 9th grade math in 8th grade.

Wipe out!

Hot July

Don and I decided at the last minute to walk the Centerville 5K run. We came in just ahead of the last group. We didn't run, we walked and I walk a 20 minute mile so we were done in 59 minutes.
Some fo the runners were seriously in it to win it. And then there was us. See that guy in the wheelchair ahead of us? That's the group we beat. I had to stop and use the bathroom and they got ahead of us. When we passed them they asked if we had lapped them. That made me laugh, I told them no but they weren't going to beat us and I would put a spoke in his wheel. We were all laughing.
We closed on the condo 35 days after listing. We got $15000 more than asking. I used a realtor called Intermountain Properties and saved $10000 in real estate fees. It was a great service.

Goodbye V4 you were a good rental for 20 years. It's amazing Aric and I bought our first home there for $24000 and we had a bidding war for this one and it sold for $240000. Now that it sold for that high the next one will sell for even higher because the appraisal will go up. We sold for $7000 more than appraisal. Sean said "you're a scammer." I said we aren't scammers we had 8 offers at that price. Now, hopefully the Tallahassee house will close on time.
