Fun Day at the Lake

Don, Sean and I went up to the lake Friday night and spent the night. We got up early and took the boat out. The boat went really, really slow and it didn't sound right. Sean didn't care, he thought it was great. He drove the boat around in circles. The boat had spark plug issues. Don took it down to Ogden and they replaced the spark plugs ($7) and had it back up to the lake by noon. We also went to the farmer's market in Eden. Sean listened to a lady sing and play the guitar. He clapped for her and he petted a horse named Sundance. And he got a new hat. He always needs new hats. He can never have too many.

In the afternoon Catherine and Kyle came up with the boys and an extra boy named Braxton. (I already asked his last name isn't Hix). The kids had so much fun boating. Sean and Tyson were fearless. Harrison and Braxton road on the mini water wienie behind the boat. They only fell off twice. Jackson and Jameson had lots of fun in the boat too. They all played in the sand and swam in the lake.

After boating we went up to the condo and everyone swam in the pool for awhile. Once again Sean and Tyson were fearless. Sean and Tyson are taking a swimming class together. They are really cute with one another. Don said that Jameson and Sean played really well together too. All the kids had a great time. There was absolutely no whining, crying or fighting the entire afternoon. Amazing with 6 little boys. They did eat a lot of junk but they sure burned all those calories. All in all it was a perfect afternoon. The weather was great, not too hot. The lake was cool but not too cool. Even Kyle had a good time.

waxing philosophical

Sean likes to say CHEESE!!!!!!!!! Sean spent a couple of hours at his parents house yesterday. I think he had a good time. As I was sitting in his parents apartment I couldn't help but think how different Sean's life is with us and Ryder's life is with the Jensen's then Kylie and Brie's life is. It is amazing what smart, adaptive little girls Kylie and Brie are.
I was watching Sean eat his beets, spinach, mac and cheese and spam (Yep, we love spam) and I thought about all the things he has at our house: fruit, vegetables, a bed time, a nap time, a bed, sheets, towels, garbage bags, clean laundry, diaper wipes, socks, Johnson baby soap, sippy cups, clean bottles, clean room, toys that aren't broken, a yard, a ton of attention from four adults....... He is a pretty indulged kid. He has two such different lives. Yet, he adapts. He loves to play with his sisters. He doesn't cry when I drop him off. When he was a baby and I would take him home sometimes he would cry and it would break my heart.

If Sean wasn't with us he wouldn't have his favorite restaurant "The Oaks" in Huntsville or his boat to drive. (he likes the Oaks because we eat outside and he can be loud and messy) I am just so happy that Ryder has his family and Sean has ours. AJ and I were sitting outside playing with Sean last week and AJ said "It's so weird how this little baby came to be in our family." I have to agree it really is a peculiar series of events that brought him into our lives.

Other notes:
David lost his hockey game this week 6:5
AJ signed up for two summer classes at Weber beginning on the 29th. He is taking Psych and Nutrition. He is hoping to meet some cute girls.
Alika is being a pill. We have our fingers crossed that she doesn't get kicked out of beauty school with only three weeks to go. She is currently suspended, AGAIN! It would be very frustrating if she didn't finish after all the time she has spent and all the money we have spent.
Alex and Loreal are in St George visiting Aric.
Carter is going to have some periodontal surgery next month.

Discovery Ghetto!

The past few weeks I've been taking Sean and his sisters to Discovery Gateway on Fridays. This week Jenny had a bigger need. The need for laundry. She wanted to bring her laundry to my house but I didn't want to pick her up, spend all day doing laundry and then drive her home. I was feeling particularly helpful so I told her I would take her to the laundromat and she could do ALL her laundry. I figured I would take my comforters too and we could do it all in a couple of hours then go to lunch. What the heck, I thought why not invite Steph and do her laundry too. It will be a party.

I had no idea that the laundromat could be so much fun. I am not joking when I say the kids had as much fun as the do at Discovery Gateway. The kids raced carts, stuck their heads in the dryers and in general were pretty darn funny! Thank goodness the first 45 minutes we were there it was empty. Unfortunately it got busy but not until after the kids had their run of the place.

I don't know what was so fascinating inside those washers but by golly they all had to check it out, over and over.

That's the back end of Brie. I think she was looking for lonely socks.Nate was still asleep when we left for the laundry and Steph had done her laundry the night before. Nate woke up so Steph decided to bring him to the laundromat even if she wasn't doing laundry. That girl knows a good time when she hears about it.

And of course Nate had to check out the washer too. Nate thought he was such a big boy.
Stats: We did ten loads of laundry and were done in 90 minutes. Pretty cool.
We had lunch at Training table. Steph had never been there before, never had the cheese fries. Poor sad Steph what a deprived life she has led.
Took Steph to the doctor afterwards. You'd have to ask her what for.
And that's my world in a minute.

The babysitters hot!

I needed a neighborhood babysitter for Sean. I had to work, AJ is in St George and David had a hockey game in SLC. Sean likes hockey but not being at the rink for three hours. I went over to a neighbor and got some names of 12-13 year old kids in the neighborhood. I got the low down on who is best from Ellie who is 4 and Madison who is 6. They told me to call a girl named Kira who they said just turned 12 and is really good. I called Kira and arranged for her to tend. Don told David we were getting a neighborhood girl to babysit and he said "I hope she's hot." I said, "I doubt she's hot, she's 12." When it was time for me to go Sean and I opened the door and there stood Kira. My first thought was "she's hot." My second thought was, "she sure doesn't look 12." I brought her in and introduced her to Sean. I asked her if she went to Centerville Jr and she said yes. I took her in to the game room where David was lying on the couch playing games. (His hair was not in place and he was not slathered in cologne.) I said "David, do you know Kira?" He looked up and said yes, Kira said yes. Then David starts repeatedly running his hand through his hair... I asked Kira how old she and she said 15. I wish I had a picture of the look on David's face when he saw Kira. Kira was pretty surprised to see him too. The entire exchange made me laugh. I guess she was a good baby sitter because Grandma said Sean never cried or got grumpy. Moral of the story: don't ask a four year old how old the babysitter is.
BTW: David won his hockey game 1:2.

Got Dirt?

Got dirt? We do, a whole driveway. If you need some come on by and pick it up. The area behind our new fence is now dug out and we are going to have a cement boat pad/basketball court poured in two weeks. AJ and David have been shuffling dirt around. Brad and Steve (Alex's friends dug it up.)
BTW: David's team won their hockey game this week 3-4. David now has hockey practice three nights a week until MIDNIGHT! Isn't that crazy? I guess you play hockey when you get the ice time.
Alika has less than 180 hours left until she is finished with beauty school. Hopefully, when she graduates she will get her brain back. She has locked her keys in the car three times this month. Silly teenage girl.

Sean's back. He spent the last two nights with his parents. He hasn't been away over night for over two months. I have to admit at night I felt short of breath had heart palpitations and kept hearing him cry when he wasn't here. I think I'm tough and that I'm not worried about losing him... maybe I'm not really so tough. I went in his room to sleep last night because Don was snoring but Sean wasn't in his room of course because he was at his parents so I pulled his blanket out of his crib then laid in the bed and cried. I decided that was ridiculous lying there smelling his blanket and crying so I went back to my bed and kicked Don to make him quit snoring. Sean's back in his crib sleeping now so I should sleep better tonight!
