Sloths, snorkeling and almost missing the boat

There's a monkey on Sean's head.

Daniel Johnson's sloth hangout.

Sloth's are seriously cute, who knew.

We snorkeled on the coral reaf. We saw lots of fish and some lobster. The water was warm but it was about 70 degree's and overcast. We had one towel between the ten of us so we were chilly on the 5 ninute boat ride back. It really was a perfect day...until Larry lost his concept of time.

Guess what? When a cruise ship says they leave port at 5:30 they really mean it! Long story short, it was raining, there were a lot of pot holes and we didn't get back at 5:30. The driver, Larry decided it was OK for us to stop and eat at 4 pm when we had to be back by 5:30. We all asked if we had time and he insisted we had plenty of time "an hour to eat" he said. How can that be? We shoveled our food into our mouths and got in the van. At first he said we had 30 minutes to spare, then 15, then none, then we were in the red. He kept saying "don't worry." Well we were worried. The traffic was bad and he actually had driven us the opposite direction of the port to eat. It was a totally empty resort a little like something out of the twilight zone. Larry eventually (when we were already late) called "Mama" who then called the port and said he had 10 passengers that were going to be 10 minutes late.

They held the ship. As we ran to the boat people hung over the balconies clapping and cheering. Catherine was embarrassed I was just happy we made it. The crew was waiting outside for us. They closed up after we got in and the ship left port.

Good times! When I didn't think we were going to make it I was trying to figure out how we were going to get out of Honduras without our passports. I didn't have a credit card with me but Don had one and Catherine, Kyle and Linda all had cards. I was wondering if Larry could get a fishing boat to take us the 90 miles to Belize. It would have made a great adventure story but one I'm glad we only had to imagine. It was a fun day with a little adventure at the end.
We were the last people on the ship and they literally closed to ship doors behind us. Crazy lucky we made it back without getting left.
