Rio de Janeiro

This is the view from the balcony of our hotel room in Rio. We were right across the street from the Copacabana. Hotel Rio Othon Palace. Of all out hotels this was my least favorite. We had two single beds and a cot. The check in process was ridiculous. I had to take deep breaths and remind myself I was at the Copacabana and life was good. After we got checked in we went for a walk on the beach and ate at a beach kiosk. Life was good. Brazil was tough because we speak no Portuguese but there was always someone willing to help. Two times we struggled with communication and both times a Brazilian asked in English "do you need help?"

I expected the beach to be packed but it was almost empty except for kids playing soccer in the sand. Lots of kids playing soccer. The streets were packed. There was a street fair going on and there were all kinds of sand sculptures. People sat next to the sculpture and charged money for taking your picture next to the sculpture. Daisy said they live on the streets. They were always there.

Making a sand angel.

Sean met a little boy named Davi (Davee). They couldn't talk to each other but they wrote their names and ages in the sand and had a blast playing together. We also met some kids from England. There dad had built an awesome sand castle and a moat and was waiting for a wave to fill it
